Top Station is tourist destination, where you can feel the clouds are flying very close to you. Wild slopes and dense forests surround it. Though there is no sufficient facility, the place is a tourist hub. The place falls along the border of the state of Tamil Nadu. Top Station is 32 km from Munnar. Frequent public buses operate between Munnar and Top Station and there are taxis too.
Top station is one among the top mountain in Western ghats and offers a panoramic view of the majestic Western Ghats and the valley of Theni district . During winter season the traveler should take woolen clothes even during daytime. The rush would be at its peak during April and May and during monsoon the place would be empty. But foreign tourists use to reach here to enjoy the rain even though the Tamil Nadu government had not made any attempt to raise the facilities for the tourists. There are only few tea and coffee shops. Many were seen selling plums, saber jelly and apples. The sale of drinking water bottles is high when foreign tourists come. There are less accommodation facilities too.
Many adventurous groups were seen trekking to Kodaikkanal though the path in dance forest. Native Manoharan is the main guide here, who is a person connected to adventurous world from the childhood. He is fortunate enough to have friends in India and aboard due to his great caliber. Manoharans guidance is must for all who opt for trekking in the forests and to enjoy the top station. Like the paths in the forest, he also by hearted the music of nature. The story of top station is apart of Manoharan’s autobiography.
